Social and economic situation of the Municipal Formation

The Municipal Formation Ust-Labinsk District is endowed with the status of a Municipal District of the Krasnodar Region.

The Municipal Formation Ust-Labinsk District includes Ust-Labinsk, the administrative center, and 14 rural settlements uniting 38 settlements.

The area of the Ust-Labinsk District with adjacent rural settlements is 1,511 sq. km including 118.3 thousand hectares of agricultural land.

The population of the Municipal Formation Ust-Labinsk District is 104.7 thousand people.

The district is the intersection of transport highways of regional and federal significance. The distance to Krasnodar is 65 km, and those to port cities are as follows: 215 km to Novorossiysk, 275 km to Yeysk, and 215 km to Temryuk.

The district has a moderate continental climate, with mild and short winters and hot and long summers. The average annual air temperature in the Ust-Labinsk District is within +10.6°С; the coldest month is January with an average annual air temperature of -3°С, and the warmest month is July with an average annual air temperature of 30-35°С. The lowest temperature in some years is -20...-25°С (in January-February), and the highest is up to 38-41°С (in July-August).

The Municipal Formation Ust-Labinsk District maintains a positive trend in many areas of activity and indicators that reflect the standard of living of the population.

The agricultural complex, the consumer market, and industrial production (in the field of processing, construction, and transportation) are the basis of the district's economic potential.

The structure of the economy of the Municipal Formation Ust-Labinsk District includes the following sectors:

  • agriculture;
  • industrial production;
  • the consumer sphere and public catering;
  • the construction complex;
  • transport and storage.

Agriculture

8 large agricultural enterprises, 384 peasant farm enterprises, and 23,297 personal subsidiary plots operate in the territory of the Municipal Formation.

The total sown area of agricultural crops of the Municipal Formation Ust-Labinsk District is 115.9 thousand hectares, of which agricultural organizations occupy 87.1 thousand ha, or 75.3%; personal subsidiary plots occupy 5.6 thousand ha, or 4.9%; peasant farm enterprises and individual entrepreneurs occupy 23.2 ha, or 19.8% of the total sown area.

The main specialization of agricultural enterprises of the Ust-Labinsk District is crop production (65.7%) and livestock breeding (34.3%). The main activity of small forms of economic management is plant growing and to a lesser extent livestock breeding.

The volume of agricultural production of all agricultural producers for 2020 amounted to 15,892.7 million rubles, which is 10.9% more than in 2019.

The following industrial enterprises operate in the district: Rassvet JSC; Mir Agricultural Firm JSC; Experimental Production Farm Named After K.A. Timiryazev LLC; Kuban Seed Production Scientific and Production Association LLC; the Ladozhskiy Breeding Plant, a branch of the Federal Research Center for Animal Husbandry – Federal Research Center for Animal Husbandry Named After Academician L.K. Ernst Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution; Kuban Poultry Farm JSC; Agrocomplex Firm Named After N.I. Tkachov; Vostok Agricultural Production Cooperative (collective farm); Rodina Agricultural Production Cooperative (collective farm); Sokolskiy-Agro LLC, and others.

The industrial sector

The industrial complex of the Municipal Formation Ust-Labinsk District is represented by 55 industrial enterprises including 15 large and medium-sized enterprises.

Following the results of work for 2020, large and medium-sized enterprises of the industrial complex shipped products of their own production and provided industrial services for 9,471.0 million rubles including by sector:

  • manufacturing industries for 8,914.7 million rubles;
  • providing electricity, gas and steam, and air conditioning for 422.7 million rubles;
  • water supply, sewerage, waste management, and the elimination of pollution for 133.6 million rubles.

The structure of the industrial sector is determined by manufacturing enterprises, which account for 95%, where the largest share is manufacturing food products accounting for 83.3% of the total volume of manufacturing enterprises; the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products accounts for 15.4%; the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, accounts for 0.47%; the manufacture of wearing apparel accounts for 0.48%; the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products accounts for 0.2%.

The following industrial enterprises operate in the district: Elevator LLC; Southern Meat-Processing Plant LLC; Svoboda Sugar Plant JSC; the Ust-Labinsk branch of Nevinnomysskiy Oil Extraction Plant LLC; Kuban Standard LLC; Glavstroy-Ust-Labinsk LLC; Ust-Labinsk Reinforced Concrete Bridge Structure Plant LLC, and others.

The consumer market

An important role in ensuring the life of the population is assigned to the consumer sphere.

The trade and consumer market system of the Ust-Labinsk District is one of the most important and most dynamically developing sectors of the economy, which is designed to provide the residents of the district with goods and services at a stable and high level. The number of modern trade enterprises, the quality of services provided, and the service culture grow now.

More than 1,400 trade and service facilities operated in the field of retail trade in 2020, among which there are about 1,100 retail trade facilities; 6 shopping malls; 133 public catering facilities; 11 wholesale and wholesale and retail trade facilities; about 173 consumer service facilities; 32 car repair shops, and 25 car washes.

In 2020, the retail trade turnover for a full range of enterprises operating in the territory of the Municipal Formation Ust-Labinsk District amounted to 15,362.2 million rubles, which is 4.8% less than in 2019 in current prices. 62.7% of the retail trade turnover is formed by private sector enterprises, and 37.3% is formed by large and medium-sized enterprises.

The turnover of public catering for the full range of enterprises in 2020 amounted to 260.2 million rubles, which is 7.6% less than that one in 2019 in current prices.

The following retail chains operate in the Ust-Labinsk District, such as Magnit, Magnit Kosmetik, Eldorado, Euroset, Svyaznoy, Pyaterochka, DNS, Svetofor, Moya Stanitsa, Wildberries, and OZON.

Transportation

The following enterprises of the Municipal Formation Ust-Labinsk District operate in transportation:

  • rail transport activities;
  • land transport activities;
  • storage and warehousing of grain;
  • postal services and courier activities.

The volume of services performed for large and medium-sized enterprises in 2020 amounted to 74.9 million rubles, or 101.9% compared to the corresponding period of the last year in current prices.

The activities of land transportation for large and medium-sized enterprises are carried out by the enterprises of Kubanpassazhiravtoservis JSC; the activities of railway transport are carried out by the Ust-Labinsk branch of Kubanpassazhirekspress Prigorod OJSC; storage and warehousing of grain are carried out by Ladozhskiy Elevator JSC; postal services are provided by the Ust-Labinsk Post Office, a branch of Russian Post Federal State Unitary Enterprise.
